I was eating with my girlfriend at Chowking when my phone suddenly rang. It was just a missed call. I checked the number and was surprised to see that a landline number was calling me. Who could it be?
I checked the messages (in case it was an emergency) and I was shocked to see that it was not an emergency at all. Why was I shocked? Well, it came from the CARLOS PALANCA MEMORIAL AWARDS FOR LITERATURE telling me to call them urgently!
My heart leaped when I realized that it was from them. Why do they want me to call them? Did I made mistakes on my entries? Or did they considered my entry a joke and will scold me off on the phone?

Woman: Hi, who’s this?
Allen: This is Allen Yu for the Palanca.
Woman: Oh, it’s you. We’ve been trying to contact you lately.
Allen: I was at school when you called. Sorry if I wasn’t able to call back immediately.
Woman: Well, apparently, we have news for you. Your entry for the Kabataan Essay won 3rd place, Congratulations.
Allen: ….
Woman: You there?
Allen: ….
Woman: Hello?
Allen: Oh! Really? Thanks!
Woman: We sent you a confirmation letter but it came back because they said you don’t live there anymore. Can I have your new address for us to send you the confirmation and invitation letter for the awarding ceremonies?

See? This is my first time to enter to something like this so you can’t blame me for overreacting. This moment happened today, August 8, 2008, (888), isn’t it marvelous?! Me and my girlfriend is celebrating our 8th month today too and the Olympics that I’ve been waiting for the past 6 years is opening today. talk about Chinese blessing, man!
I’m just soooo happy. That’s all. But I won’t tell it to my friends just yet. I’ll make sure I’ll have that confirmation letter. Who knows, maybe this is just all a dream. Lol. You really are overreacting Allen. Ha-ha!
