I’ll just humiliate myself a bit. These following videos were played during our organized event, EDIT WISELY; A Seminar on the Post-Production Process and Video Editing held last January.

Please, sana after you see this, wag naman sanang bumaba tingin nyo sakin. :))

somewhere down THE ROAD

You might have read my short story THE NOW GENERATION earlier. Many thought its a grim picture of the future where everybody relies on technology.

But what if everything happens the other way around? What if there’s no more technology, no more civilization and the world slowly dies on its own?

What if, as this happens, you are alone or with someone, perhaps with your father, going on a journey to find a place where all the misery is gone?

And what if this place you dream of getting to isn’t even there?

Will you lose hope? Will you ask,

“Dad, are we gonna die?”

What if your father tells you,

“I just want to die.”

This is what is being portrayed at the movie I have seen earlier. THE ROAD, an adaptation of the novel by Cormac McCarthy is a post-apocalyptic story about the journey of a father and son in a world where civilization has long ended and the world deteriorates on its own.

In this story, the father and the son walk along deserted roads, pass by abandoned homes and ward off humans that have started to feed from themselves. The father carries with him a pistol with only one bullet which he keeps to shoot cannibals that is trying to eat them or to shoot his son when time comes that he cannot ward off more cannibals to spare him from the agony.

THE ROAD is a heart-warming story of the father and son who didn’t lose hope until the very end. That the world isn’t wholly transformed into a world without animals and with cannibals trying to survive from the detritus of cities.

The message is clear though, that we should protect the environment to protect our civilization. I cannot explain the feeling after the movie ended. I can’t express my grief over the ending that I will not convey to you. You have to watch it for yourself.

And if you do, please, try to reflect. What if it’s you and your son walking out there? Will you still have the hope to go on?

*The Road was awarded the Pulitzer Prize in 2007.

I’m Nearly There

On March 5, 2010, in Uncategorized, by Allen

Hi guys! I’m not officially back from blogging yet. Things at the university are not yet done and I’ve got tons and tons of problems to solve still. But don’t worry, there’s nothing I can’t handle.

So I just dropped by to give you some sneak peek at the things I’ve been busy with. I have directed several AVP projects already but this one is the toughest so far. After the shoot, I slept for 16 hours straight and was hardly capable of getting out of bed. Plus I had a sore throat and all. Kahit ngayon, di pa ako nakakabawi ng lakas.

I really can’t say that I had fun doing this because I was shouting, walking and thinking all the time. I realized it’s really hard to direct something with kids involved.

Anyway, I’ll cut it here and I promise to show you the finished product once it’s done. So stay tuned! :)
