But whenever I see these four colors altogether, only one thing comes into my mind and I’m sure you think of the same thing as well.
The Philippine Flag.
Thanks to Cuba for inspiring Aguinaldo for the idea of our own flag but I really don’t mind having that red flag with crossed bones of the KKK. (that’d be soooo cool!)
So what do we really think when we see the Philippine flag? What does it mean to us? I asked a few people and here is what they have to say:
“It is the struggle to make better my family’s life,”
-Jadi, Development Studies student, University of the Philippines-Manila
“It symbolizes our country’s freedom. It reflects everything this country had to go through for its people to enjoy the freedom that we have today.”
-Bey, Entrepreneur, Taguig City
“The Philippine Flag symbolizes our undying endeavor to be known worldwide. It shows how brave and artistic Filipinos are in every undertakings they pursue.”
-Reniel, Communication Research student, University of the Philippines-Diliman
“The Philippine flag represents the unique symbol of our country. It shows the freedom, love and respect that Filipinos have for the Philippines.”
-Jeneri Carm, Filipino in Illinois
“It is a symbol of our country being independent and being free.”
-Nico, Nursing student, Quezon City
“The Philippine flag represent my identity as a proud Filipino and it signifies the independence of the Philippines”
-Soccoro, Accountant, Ferrostal Philippines, Inc.
For me, the Philippine flag is like a beacon, a lighthouse, a star that would lead me straight home whenever I am lost.
How about you, what does the Philippine Flag mean to you?
A(H1N1): Yes please, I’m starving…
Flight Attendant: Here is our menu, suit yourself.
A(H1N1): I don’t need a menu, would you just give me the list of all the passengers?

Mabuhay! Our long-expected guest has finally arrived. Welcome to the island paradise of the Philippines where rice is scarce, though we have acres and acres of rice paddies.
This is not the time to panic. If you have sore throat, drink Salabat. If you have fever, take Tempra Forte. If you have cough, don’t swallow the phlegm. Yuck!
This is not the time to panic. All we have to do is to turn our houses into air-tight containers. If you can’t do that, buy a gas mask, if not an astronaut’s suit. Lol.
This is not the time to panic. Avoid going to public places. Just bring the public to your home.
This is not the time to panic. If this flu turns most of your friends into flu-infected zombies, then you better watch I AM LEGEND so that you’ll know what to do.
This is not the time to panic. But if you can’t help it, RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!!!!
Last Sunday I invited my friends if they could come with me to the Luneta Concert Amphitheater to watch the PWU High School Female Ensemble sing. But they said it would be such a lame thing to do so they declined. Having no one to go with, I just settled myself on watching videos in YouTube.
So then I stumbled into a korean TV Series that my friends were talking about. Yeah, if you’re living in the Philippines, a teenager, watch too much TV and talk a lot, you’ll know what it is.
I finished the last remaining episodes of Kotboda Namja (Boys Before Flowers), a korean adaptation of the ever-popular Hana Yori Dango and I say it’s better than Meteor Garden. I love how everyone portray their characters. Koreans really do know how to handle their stars, don’t you think?
To my astonishment, I started loading my ipod with songs of SuJu, 2NE1, Shinee and 2PM, all of which are Korean artists. What’s interesting is that my brother, who is a great fan of emo music started playing 2NE1’s Fire with his speaker that echoed the whole apartment. Isn’t that a bit funny?

Aside from loving museums, hate barhopping and not having a facebook or multiply account, I think this is one of the few things that make me look like a teenager. I think I’ll age sooner than expected. Ha-ha!
I’m getting surprised with myself. I always knew I was so boring to my friends. What about you? What are the things you like that aren’t just appropriate for your age?

P.S. I’m still not giving up with my campaign. I would be very very happy if you make a post about my preceding post. Please? I would thank you personally for that. Thanks a bunch! Do this not for me, but for the country. ^^,v

So then I thought, if we can’t have the Youth Olympics in our turf, then why not try for something else?
Recently, the New7Wonders Foundation announced that they are currently looking for the perfect city to host the Declaration of the New 7 Wonders of Nature in 2011. Since the Puerto Princessa underground river is leading the polls, I thought it would be great if we pass a bid to host the prestigious event and if we’re lucky enough to win, award Puerto Princessa in our own land!
As stated by the Foundation, they are choosing the candidates with the following qualities:
- the best and most spectacular location to showcase the biggest event in 2011
- a country and city with the political and strategic ambition to be at the centre of the world
- as with any other major event, standard license and contract terms and conditions
- the passion and interest of the people, the national decision-makers and the media.
- Political leaders and national decision-makers, so they get behind this
- main media, journalists, TV newspapers, so they support you
- friends and get them to visit this page and tell us about their choice as well!
For a country thirsty for recognition and honor, we certainly need this. I am not losing hope with Manila and I hope you do too. Please vote for Manila through this LINK or make a blog post about this campaign. (I suggest you write a blog post to spread the message ^^,)
This is my second time to attend a bloggers event (it was held at school back in 2006) but this one was way better than my first. The iBlog5 filled me with interesting information about blogging and opened my mind in this really fast-growing industry.
I went with Paurong.com since the people I was supposed to go with wasn’t able to make it.
I found the talks very useful, actually, since I am an advertising and public relations student myself and much of the talks involved advertising, public relations and some of the speakers were PR practitioners. Great!
One of my most favorite part was when Atty. JJ Disini, who talked about Legal Issues in Blogging was asked during the open forum about a certain blogger’s work being published without consent by a local daily. The local daily, however, told that certain blogger that everything on the internet is free.
Then Atty. Disini said, “and that local daily is from which communist country?”
Ha-ha!
At the end of the day, my head got crowded with information about blogging yet I was happy to have found it very useful.
To the organizers and to everyone who attended, thank you very much for such a unique experience.
To those who wasn’t able to come, then you missed a lot. (You know exactly who you are. Ha-ha!)
