WHERE IS SHE?

On March 30, 2009, in In The Society, by Allen
This may be my very first showbiz-oriented post. Thought you’d wanna know. ^_^
———————————————————————————–

Who could ever forget that girl who made us laugh with all of her imperfections on TV? I remember back in 2004 when I tried to drain down all of my cellphone load just to cast a vote on her.

Well, I’m talking about Sandara Park, the korean girl who rose to stardom from a Filipino talent search, Star Circle Quest.

Sandara Park was recorded to have been the ONLY woman in Philippine showbiz history to garner the largest number of SMS votes on Star Circle Quest and in any other contests (count me in on that 500,000 text votes). After winning 1st runner-up, she was showered with projects by ABS-CBN and became an instant celebrity.

Not long after her glorious rise to fame, she went back to Korea to study and do some workshops. When she came back however, fans (like me), did not show the same enthusiasm on her as before. After that, she was never heard of again.

But where is Sandara Park now?

After being made a laughing stock in the dirty Philippine showbiz, she made her comeback…

On Korean TV!

Now, Sandara is a rising star once more, but in her home, Korea.

Sandara is a member of YG Entertainment’s upcoming girl group 21 and has starred in various shows.

Sandara is also expected to be seen on Philippine TV once more as ABS-CBN is about to air her first Korean TV Series, The Return of Iljimae, with her role as a ninja together with Lee Jun Ki.

I was really surprised to see her once more on YouTube and I daresay, she has changed a lot. She is well-represented in Korea. I think she’s better off in Korean TV and not in the Philippines where she’s being laughed at by those nasty Filipino showbiz people.

Good luck to your future endeavors Sandara! Your fans are still here!

BEFORE I DIE

On March 25, 2009, in In The Society, Personal, by Allen
I really really fancy geography. When I land myself a job in the future, I’ll make sure I’d visit as many places as I can. But since I haven’t got one yet (or I don’t think I’m capable of having a job yet, haha!), let me share to you the Top Ten places I want to visit before I die.

10. CEBU CITY- Yeah, this may sound a little ridiculous but I haven’t been to Cebu and I want to see the whole place. I want to see the next big thing after Manila and buy as many danggit as possible. Ha-ha!

9. BANAUE RICE TERRACES- Even though it’s starting to get a bit abandoned, I want to see the marvel our ancestors have worked hard for.

8. THE PALM, JUMEIRAH- Who wouldn’t want to see The Palm?

7. THE LOUVRE- Is it true the security cameras in there aren’t real?

6. CN TOWER, TORONTO- What do you mean by “Tallest free-standing structure”?

5. BANGKOK- My friend says elephants are very much free to roam around the whole city. How cool is that?

4. MALACANANG PALACE- Before I die, I’ll make sure I could set my foot onvANC this place. Either because I’ll talk to the President or I WILL be the President. Woooo!

3. VANCOUVER- I want to watch the Winter Olympics!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

2. BURJ DUBAI- How tall is it, really?

1. VATICAN CITY- Well, because I’m a catholic, I wouldn’t mind seeing where my sunday offering gets. And I daresay, it’s a pretty good investment, huh!

There, those are my Top 10 dream destinations. What about you? What are the places you want to visit before you die?

JUST WANT TO TELL YOU I’M STILL ALIVE

On March 18, 2009, in Personal, by Allen

As expected, my mom called me while I was at school and talked to me, about having that fight with my team mate. I knew she wouldn’t like it. Who would, anyway?

So far, we have gone halfway and are struggling to continue the battle and win it. The team is running out of funds, I’m getting a little irritated with our pace at working and the date of the presentation and deliberation of the whole campaign is on Monday. I’m in hell right now.

I cannot tell you what we’ve come up with yet because the other teams might be checking out my blog for some progress and I guess, some ideas to steal. LOL. But just to prove to my mom that I wasn’t lying about the said shoot, I’m going to show you some of the photos we took while on set at Sycamore Tower, Mandaluyong.

I’m getting busier day by day so I just took this little chance to post something and tell you I’m still alive. God Bless Everyone.

Thanks!

UNLUCKY ME

On March 14, 2009, in Personal, by Allen

I didn’t know I could get hit big time by the omens brought about by the legendary curse of Friday the 13th. It even got extended.

As my final battle for this year is fast approaching, me and my fellows at Conveyors Asia Communications (this is our team’s name) met to discuss about the advertising campaign for our second client, Red Ribbon Cakes. Yesterday, Friday the 13th, I got into this huge argument with one of my group mates and, being the stubborn kid that I am, it ended up with a little brawl.

The next day, while the tension wasn’t cooling down yet, I met another misfortune. I was at the jeepney on my way to Cubao when this stupid woman dropped her soda can in my shorts and I got wet down to my thighs! Can you just imagine how unlucky I was?!

The worst happened later today. We were supposed to start shooting for the Red Ribbon TV Commercial today at my friend’s house in Novaliches. But because of mismanagement, we decided to postpone it. But my friend, however, forgot to inform his parents about the sudden change of date so his parents cooked food for all of us. Imagine how they exerted some effort for an expected visitor and later knowing that we won’t show up? How embarrassing could that be??

So I want to apologize to everyone for being such a loser. I promise it won’t happen again.

Oh, by the way, I’m looking for photography enthusiasts or anyone who has a nice camera who’s willing to be hired as our photographer for the Red Ribbon Print Ad. I hope you wouldn’t charge me that much. I’m still a student, you know. hehe. Please don’t hesitate to contact me not later than Tuesday at 7252418 or give me your number so that I may contact you. Thanks guys!

A Day at the Doulos

On March 8, 2009, in In The Society, Personal, by Allen

Bookworms and book enthusiasts alike around the country definitely know about this one.

The M/V Doulos has once again arrived in Manila Bay.

M/V Doulos is the oldest active ocean-faring ship and is now the world’s largest floating library. The Doulos Ship is currently owned by the German charity Gute Bücher für Alle (Good Books for All) but is formerly known as the SS Medina, SS Roma and the MV Franca C. The ship was built in 1914 in the US.

M/V Doulos sells books in a fairly cheaper price. They have a vast collection of about 3000 to 5000 books on shelf and some half a million in the hold. I bought myself two books. One of which is entitled “Perpetua” by Amy Rachel Peterson, a novel based on the real life and death of a young Roman noblewoman. The other one is Webster’s Book of Common Phrases, just to make my writing skills better. He-he. I also got a Doulos keyring.

After coming from Kuching, Malaysia, they went straight to Cebu, Bacolod and now in Manila.

The M/V Doulos is currently docked at Gate1, Pier 13, South Harbor in Manila. Entrance fee is Php10.00 with books that range from 50 units (equivalent to 50 pesos) to 1500 units. There is also an international cafe where you can meet the volunteers, crew and captain which costs Php50.00 only.

The shop opens at 10:00 AM and closes at 10:00 PM.

So if you’re in for a fun book-hunting experience, then try the Doulos. Visit them before March 31st as they depart for Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

The Doulos is doing her last sail as she gets de-commissioned in 2010. Sad.

Thanks to my companions from www.peyupi.com, Jezca and Dave Ernie who went with me under the scorching heat of the sun.
