Another Design

On March 19, 2008, in Uncategorized, by Allen

Out of boredom (again), I experimented with photoshop. I did another logo for the 2018 Asian Games again. This time, the logo if Cebu is ever chosen to be the Philippine city to host it.

The design is inspired by the Alibata, the ancient Philippine scripture. It depicts the symbol for the letter “A” for Asia. The yellow characters spell “Pilipinas” the current host. Green symbolizes the rich history and culture of the Filipinos just like the rich green color of its nature.

Let me present to you my mock logo for Manila’s Bid in the 18th Asian Games in 2018. There has been a lot of articles and rumors circulating the internet about this plan and is yet to be confirmed by the Philippine Olympic Committee.

We hope we could take another bite in this prestigous event. After all, we had a long “asian games drought” since we last hosted the 2nd Asian Games in 1954.

Join us with our campaign to take back the Asian Games to Manila!

All Yours To Visit

On March 9, 2008, in Uncategorized, by Allen

I really like to roam around. That’s why I always end up late for school.

allYOU is proud to present a newest blog segment entitled All Yours To Visit. An article all bout my travels and escapades!

My first stop, the Quezon Memorial Circle.
Here is a brief description wikipedia says:

The Quezon Memorial Circle is a national park and shrine located in Quezon City, the former capital of the Philippines. The site was originally intended as the grounds of the National Capitol to be built in Quezon City. While the cornerstone for the structure was laid in 1940, only the foundations were in place when construction was interrupted by the beginning of the Second World War in the Philippines. After World War II, President Sergio Osmeña issued an executive order stipulating the creation of a Quezon Memorial Committee to raise funds by public subscription to erect a monument to his predecessor, President Manuel Luis Quezon.

It was designed by architect Federico Ilustre. The monument would consist of three vertical pylons (representing the three main geographic divisions of the country: Luzon, the Visayas, and Mindanao), 66 meters (217 ft) tall (Quezon’s age when he died), surmounted by three mourning angels holding sampaguita (the national flower) wreaths sculpted by the Italian sculptor Monti. The three pylons would in turn circumscribe a drum-like two-story structure containing a gallery from which visitors could look down at Quezon’s catafalque, modeled after Napoleon Bonaparte’s in the Invalides. The gallery and the catafalque below are lit by an oculus, in turn reminiscent of Grant’s Tomb.

1. allYOU poses in front of the monument.
2. The plaque installed by the National Historical Institute.
3. The bas relief depicting the history of the Philippines.
4. The Museum below the monument is open only on Tuesdays-Saturdays. Too bad I came on a Sunday.
4. The facade of the Museum.
5. The Quezon City Hall from the steps of the monument.

v2010!!!

On March 6, 2008, in Uncategorized, by Allen

Carlos Celdran, the famous tourist guide says:
“Wow. I am really kinda overwhelmed about the response I have been getting from my “I WILL WAIT TILL 2010″ group on facebook. In the last 48 hours, over 316 people have signed up. I know it’s not a very large number, but I still consider it to be rather significant. I found it also interesting who see who were willing end their “silence” and willingly announce that they are NOT supporting PEOPLE POWER 4 or attempts to bring the presidency down through extraconstitutional methods. And such an interesting mix. There were students and alumni of colleges both here and abroad, high school students, Fil-Ams, Fil-Canadians, OCWs, artists, and professionals. Bloggers like Anton of Awesome Planet, and Mike Aquino of Reason is the reason joined the group. Artists/designers like Tippi Ocampo, Gian Romano, and Astrud Crisologo joined the group as did dancer Donna Miranda and celebrities Bituin Escalante, Jamie Wilson, and GR Rodis. Even journalists RG Cruz and Daphne and Patrick Paez were willing to wait till 2010 like me. Now we might not be collectively as impressive as say, the Makati Business Club, or have the same celebrity clout as Jim Paredes, but still, it’s still a great collection of good Filipino citizens. And please realize that none of these people are SAYING THAT they love or support the president at all. What it just says here is that people who are willing to see the president out in 2010 are not the apathetic, morally vacuuous, unintelligent people that some folks out there have made us out to be.”
Amen! Let us wait for 2010!
